There is no money left over at the end of the month to put aside. So, how do you stop living from paycheck to paycheck and start saving?
The first step in sorting out your finances is creating a budget. This involves listing your income and expenses, including every small thing that you buy. This will be a comprehensive list and it is a good idea to sort the items from most important to least important. Start off by making sure that your income is higher than your expenses. Then, look at your list of expenses and see which you can cut off. For example, do you have a subscription to the gym you never use or a subscription to a newspaper or magazine you can read online?
Once you have cut unnecessary expenses off the bottom of your list you can create a savings account. Whatever you are not spending on those expenses can be put into a savings account. Create a direct debit for your savings and make that one of your expenses on your budget to make sure that you stick to it. This is the way to become financially secure and to ensure you are no longer living paycheck to paycheck.
